Deb Keogh is a figurative and genre artist who works with oils and encaustic on canvas that includes large-scale figurative work, portraiture. Deb finds inspiration for her work from myths, fantasies and superstitions that often relate to our childhood. Many of her works have a mystical or dream-like quality that takes the viewer on a private journey of the subconscious. Deb writes:

“I believe we are a result of our past experiences and that these experiences never leave us. I like to imagine that these experiences are kept in a room in our mind. In that room is everything that makes us who we are. This might be dreams, loves and likes, positive and negative experiences. Whatever they are I see my work as a way of gaining access to this room and being able to explore what I find there."

The rich colors and full rounded shapes are sensual and delicious. She is also a printmaker and she creates large-scale drawings on paper.

After completing fine art studies at Newcastle Art School, Deborah continued study at Brisbane TAFE. In 2004 she commenced a full time art practice in Queensland and in 2005 she was invited to complete a twelve-month residency at the School of Excellence in Visual Arts, Redcliffe High School. The residency culminated in a major exhibition of her work at Redcliffe Regional Art Gallery. In 2015 she was completed a six month artist residency with Brand X at Surry Hills.

Deborah is currently living and working in Sydney. Her studio is situated at Wolooware in southern Sydney.
